Metageometries for Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon Detection at THz Range in Food Systems

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, when present in food systems, have been shown to a detrimental effect on human health, producing carcinogenic elements. So, the implementation of processes for their detection and identification is vital importance. Nowadays, there are different methodologies this purpose, but they consist expensive time-consuming processes. Due enhanced sensitivity more accurate capability, metageometries operating terahertz band arise as new methodology identify detect chemical or biological substances. In letter, we propose labyrinth metageometry that able polycyclic hydrocarbons collected European regulations most critical compounds with high experimental sensitivity. Our design also capable distinguishing between at same concentration. This letter leads way metastructures improve current limits and, thus, obtain easier less than actual methods.
